Each entry lists the key NPCs with map coordinates, requirements, clear step-by-step directions, and the payoff for finishing the quest.


Merchant

Starting NPC: Merchant Representative Ellen — Orphanage (va_orpha 196,300)

Requirements: Orphan job (no extra prerequisites).

Steps:

  • Speak with Ellen about taking up the merchant life.
  • Confirm you accept the restrictions for low-level merchants.
  • Receive your license and new title immediately.

Reward: Job change to Merchant and a Merchant License.


Thief

Starting NPC: Lydia the Thief — Orphanage (va_orpha 64,41)

Requirements: Orphan Job Level 10 and 500 zeny.

Steps:

  • Ask Lydia for the Thief test and show your readiness.
  • Return with 500 zeny to be welcomed into the guild.

Reward: Job change to Thief along with a starter dagger.


Vagabond

Starting NPC: Jobless Orphan — Orphanage (va_orpha 17,18)

Requirements: Orphan Base Level 15 or higher with zero zeny on hand.

Steps:

  • Tell the Jobless Orphan you want to leave the path of regular jobs.
  • Return after reaching Base Level 15 to embrace exile.
  • Accept the offer to "walk free" and abandon structured classes.

Reward: Job change to Vagabond.


Raider

Starting NPC: Wandering Knight — Payon Field 9 (pay_fild09 334,264)

Requirements: Orphan Job Level 10.

Steps:

  • Ask the knight about fighting with courage.
  • Train to Job Level 10 if needed and show you are ready.
  • Accept the spear and the Raider title.

Reward: Job change to Trickster plus Serin's scythe.


Jester

Starting NPC: Pierrot — Prontera (prontera 105,64)

Requirements: Orphan Job Level 10.

Steps:

  • Meet Pierrot in Prontera and accept his invitation.
  • Find his "apprentice" south of the city (prt_fild08 55,57).
  • Survive the "Joking Around" obstacle course and pick your preferred reward card.

Reward: Job change to Jester plus a Joker's Wild card and the suit you selected.


Judge

Starting NPC: Leon Damon — Orphanage (va_orpha 310,326)

Requirements: Orphan Base Level 15 and Job Level 10.

Steps:

  • Speak with Leon in the Orphanage, then meet him inside Prontera Castle (prt_cas 94,254).
  • Petition King Nihil (prt_cas 94,297) to begin the trials.
  • Earn approval from every royal family:
    • Spica Nerius — Finance Wing (prt_cas 88,292): show at least 1,000 zeny or donate 10,000.

Starting NPC: Strange Glass — Prontera Inn (prt_in 78,87)

Requirements: Orphan Base Level 15 or higher and Job Level 10.

Steps:

  • Touch the cursed mirror in the inn to face your inner shadows.
  • Endure thirteen waves of specters without giving in to their whispers.
  • Accept the offered pact to wield vengeance as a Dark Knight.

Reward: Job change to Dark Knight.


Illusionist

Starting NPC: Broken Clock — Orphanage (va_orpha 272,379)

Requirements: Orphan Base Level 15, Job Level 10, and 1,000 zeny.

Steps:

  • Repair the clock by adjusting the second gear, the small needle, and finally the large needle.
  • Enter the hidden portal and meet the Familiar Girl in Lutie (xmas_in 111,107).
  • Purchase the Kimi doll from the machine (xmas_in 169,22) and speak with her again.
  • Embrace your memories to bind Kimi as your avatar.

Reward: Job change to Illusionist and the Illusionist glove.


Mimic

Starting NPC: Mysterious Mirror — Orphanage (va_orpha 390,193)

Requirements: Orphan Base Level 25 or higher.

Steps:

  • Approach the mirror after meeting the level requirement.
  • Choose to look at your reflection and accept the strange book it offers.

Reward: Job change to Mimic and a Mimic grimoire.


Ronin

Starting NPC: Old Master Dio — Amatsu (amatsu 282,140)

Requirements: Thief Job Level 50.

Steps:

  • Complete the shared guild evaluations: the stealth course, hidden passages, and combat trials.
  • Report to the guild master to choose between the Assassin's blade path or the Rogue's subterfuge.

Unchained Thief

Starting NPC: Alkouskou — Unchained Training Hall (va_orpha 287,113)

Requirements: Thief Job Level 50, no prior specialization, and an MVP Prize Box with random options.

Steps:

  • Speak with Alkouskou about forging your own path.
  • Present the MVP Prize Box to prove your dedication.
  • Complete the brief meditation to unlock your hybrid potential.

Reward: Job change to Unchained Thief and immediate access to hybrid skill ranks.


Phantom Thief

Requirements: Unchained Thief at Base Level 99 and Job Level 50, 200 Distortion Shards.

Steps:

  • Return to Melody once you reach the peak of Unchained mastery.
